Dr Saurabh Misra was working as Senior Consultant and head, Coordinator, Gastrointestinal, Minimal Access Robotic and Bariatric surgeon , at Apollo hospital, Bangalore, Karnataka, 76,
since January 2007.
Completed his Robotic accreditation for DaVenci Xi system in November 2019. Now
performing robotic surgeries routinely.

Performed more than 10000, independent minimal access and 150 Robotic surgeries, since accreditation which includes advanced Gastrointestinal, Colo- rectal, Bariatric and complex hernia surgeries.

Established the department of Minimal Access and Bariatric surgery at Apollo Hospitals ,

Established the Institute of Bariatrics at Apollo hospitals , in Bangalore in the year 2013.
Underwent brief training in Robotics , conducted by Vattikuti Technologies at Bangalore in 2014.
Till today , performed more than 10000 independent Laparoscopic surgeries which include Bariatric
surgeries like Lap. Sleeve Gastrectomy, Lap Gastric banding, Laparoscopic Lap Gastric Bypass
surgery, Lap Mini Gastric Bypass, Laparoscopic Hepatobiliary surgeries, Lap benign and
malignent Colorectal procedures, Lap assisted Vaginal Hysterectomies , Lap Adrenalectomies,
Lap Splenectomies, and numerous fertility surgeries in women. Performed numerous SILS
( Single incision surgeries ) procedures till date.
Completed accreditation for robotic surgery in 2019.
Conducted more than 75 robotic Gastrointestinal, bariatric and advanced hernia surgeries till date.
Presently training young surgeons for the same since last 15 years.

Special Contribution :
Pioneered a technique known as e TEP Rives Stoppa procedure for Ventral hernias ( Unit having
largest series of these procedures in Asia-Pacific region ) Presented a paper on the same subject at
Tokyo , Japan in Oct, 2016, Taiwan 2017 and HSI, New Delhi- 2018, HSIcon Kolkatta 2019,
EHS, Prague 2024.
